Helisa Wippel

Research Scientist

Helisa H. Wippel earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (2013), a
master’s degree in Biosciences from Fiocruz (2016), with emphasis on the regulation of eukaryotic gene
expression, and a Ph.D. in Biosciences from Fiocruz (2020), applying proteomics for the study of stomach
cancer and tumors of the central nervous system. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Bruce lab (2020-
2022), Department of Genome Sciences, University of Washington, where she used chemical cross-
linking with mass spectrometry to investigate protein-protein interactions and perform interactome
analyses. She is currently studying Lyme disease and investigating pathogen-host protein interactions
and the protein interactome of Borrelia burgdorferi.
