Helisa Wippel

Research Scientist

Helisa H. Wippel earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (2013), a master’s degree in Biosciences from Fiocruz (2016), with emphasis on the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression, and a Ph.D. in Biosciences from Fiocruz (2020), applying proteomics for the study of stomach cancer and tumors of the central nervous system.  She was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Bruce lab (2020-2022), Department of Genome Sciences, University of Washington, where she used chemical cross-linking with mass spectrometry to investigate protein-protein interactions and perform interactome analyses.  She is currently a Research Scientist at ISB, where she investigates the protein interactome of Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease.
